WebFolk offers a range of accessibility services, including access audits, accessible re-designs and access awareness training for web designers and writers.
Ensuring that your website is accessible is becoming more and more important:
- You might be excluding many potential visitors from your website.
- You may be wasting money by maintaining a parallel "text-only" website, when a fully accessible website can meet everybody's needs without extra effort and cost.
- People are using the Internet in ever more varied ways - through mobile or voice-activated computers, televisions, a growing number of operating systems and browsers, and many other platforms and devices.
- The Disability Discrimination Act applies to websites, as well as public buildings and services.
Access Audits
An Access Audit is a detailed study of your website which highlights any features which are making access difficult for your users, and which makes recommendations for improvement.
We assess websites against the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, which is an industry-standard and very thorough evaluation tool.
Accessible Re-Designs
Once an Access Audit of your site has been done, we are able to re-design web pages to meet the highest standards of accessibility: WCAG Level 3. This will make your site faster, easier to use and cheaper to maintain.
This can be undertaken as part of an overall re-design of your site, or can be done to make your existing design more accessible. Furthermore, we are happy either to overhaul the entire site, or to provide accessible templates and guidelines which can be implemented by your own website staff.
Access Awareness Training
We provide Access Awareness Training aimed specifically at web designers and writers.
The training will raise awareness of web accessibility issues, and teach accessible writing techniques. Both designers and content-writers will benefit from this training and carry away writing skills which will benefit many areas of your operations.
